  flipper: A one-time janitor, I relate to the stress of incapacitating illness and inability to get to work. Likewise, my family helped when I was down and out, but for other reasons at the time. My first episode ever -- referred to in the OP -- was when I was 54. I can understand your thinking it was a stroke. Like you said, you wouldn't wish vertigo on your worst enemy. And to think, yours lasted that long! Thanks for telling your story -- a good but scary one!

  LisaRose: Your husband was lucky he could pull over -- WHEW!!! What's maddening is going to a doc and finding nothing wrong. I was told by our therapy center to come in when you're having the attack -- SURE! But I get the point. Thanks!

  Greetings, bobcat, LisaRose, nonjwspouse, and Sail Away, and thanks for sharing your experiences. They have been very helpful.

  When I first experienced vertigo, some 13 years ago, I had no idea what put me on the floor, unmovable, for 10 hours. A friend brought me Dramamine, which helped. I don't even know how I contacted my friend -- the phone was dead.

  Doc said it was a virus.

  Appreciate your concern . . .

  Do you have / admire Charisma?

  "charisma is a certain quality of an individual personality by virtue of which the person is set apart from ordinary people and treated as exceptional".

  as a kid i was afraid of such charisma, as it was usually the quality i noticed elders, head masters, and parents had to exercise with unloving authority over me.. but now i think about it "charisma" doesn't need be only for people with authority.

  " charisma" is something even we can have?

  My head has ceased spinning when I lie down. I'm mobile again. This, my longest bout ever, was some 24 hours.

  Your type of long-term episodes, LNO and Nancy, were brought to my attention today by a friend who was out of action for 2 months. Of course, it's brought on by different medical reasons. Your ear and sinus infections were the reasons for what you both described. So sorry!

  Who really is the faithful and discreet NATHEER SALIH ??

  we know he was faithful to frederick franz (or frederick franz was faithful to him).. we know he was discreet because so little is known about him today.

  for example, we know that he was in the writing department (even though he never professed to being a jw), that wore expensive jewelry and that he was frederick franz spokesman (or did i get that backwards?)....

  also, much has been said about salihs strange hebrew-to-english bible translations (supposedly used by frederick franz when writing certain wt articles) and several illuminati and/or freemason conspiracy theories have been analyzed, yet this guy has managed to slip under the radar almost completely unnoticed by all jws and will probably be completely forgotten in just a few years.. so, who really is the faithful and discreet natheer salih?

  Whatever makes one attractive to others -- looks, manner, intellect, talent -- can be boon or bane to the holder. In many a situation, a friendly, outgoing individual may capture the heart of another individual (or, many) and be quite incapable of reciprocating in the measure the starstruck one expects.

  Onstage as a performer for many years, I have a little experience with audiences. They can love you but forget you once you're offstage. Or, they may hate you from the start. It's a difficult road to hoe, that of a performer.

  It's like the adoring masses who worship a public figure and see only the outside. What would it be like to live with that "beautiful" person?

  Anyway, mon ami, that's an aspect of charisma, as I perceive it.
